That's our Subie in recovery. He had surgery this morning. A plate in his leg and 9 screws. Poor little guy. The doctor said he'll have a full recovery though being that he's such a young cat. It will take about 7 weeks until he's back to his old self. We have to go down and pick him up tomorrow afternoon. We had to go down and visit him today though---we couldn't wait until tomorrow! He was high as a kite but I think he was happy to see us. He reached out to us when we left. It was like he was saying, "don't leave me hereeee!" He has an IV in his arm, a splint on his leg---he's pretty much a gimp at this point.

Here's to a full-recovery. And the most expensive pet we'll ever own!

Our Sweet Subie....

.....is staying the night at the emergency vet in Vancouver tonight. This is the first night he's ever been away from us and it's killing us. I know that sounds pathetic, but he is our baby! We love him so much!

It all happened at around 7:30 tonight. I was waiting for Joe to get home and was cleaning up the kitchen when I suddenly heard a loud crash come from the dining room. Next I see Subie limping and not putting any weight on his right hind leg. I'm still not sure what happened, but he obviously ate s#it trying to do something mischievous. He finally gave in to the pain and laid down and then I realized he was bleeding. Luckily Joe was on his way home at this point and when he got home, Joe determined that he broke something and his little bone was sticking out causing the bleeding.

We had to take him to the emergency vet in Vancouver and they admitted him. The vet called on our way home and he managed to break both bones in his leg. :( She said he is severely bruised and there is bone fragment in there as well. The surgeon will call us early tomorrow with his estimate. :( The vet tonight thinks probably about $1800 for the surgery and then we paid $600 for tonights stay and meds. But anything for our Subie! I just hope he's not in too much pain now---I feel like a bad mom for letting that happen!!!

Keep him in your thoughts!! Now Subie and I both have bad right legs!

Here's the link to the story.....

Good Morning America

I was on GMA this morning! I got an email last night but I didn't bother emailing or calling anyone because I was worried it might get delayed again!

My parents were able to watch the story on the abcnews.com website several times but now it's not online. I just emailed the producer and she said they are tweaking the site and adding the entire story that aired, additional sound from the doctor and a longer text story so it should be back online soon. I'll post the link when it's online and I can find it again!

I love you, Monchichi!

The adorable box below was one of the gifts I had waiting for me under the tree this year. As soon as I saw who it was from, my sister and bro-in-law, I knew it would be something good! My sister is usually the shopper so I was very excited to open it. And I loved the box--it's so cute! I actually had a feeling it was something from Sephora.

Lesson learned: don't judge a gift by its packaging.....

Hahahaha, meet my newest friend and bridezilla, Mrs. Monchichi! Once my hair was long enough to go wigless, a guy I work with teased me that my hair made me look like a Monchichi. I was like, "What the heck is a Monchichi??" I google image searched it and lucky for him I didn't punch him! I thought it was pretty funny actually---and my hair did (or does!) look like that thanks to the really awkward grow out stage.

Anyway, I made the mistake of telling my family about it and as soon as I did, George and Kim were on a mission to find a Monchichi. Apparently they are hard to find! They found the perfect one on eBay though: the bride! Now all I need is the groom (which is out there somewhere!) and I'm set! Pretty funny George. I'll get you next year....
In other news, I got contacts today and I am amazed at how blind I was. Everything has so much more definition now! And street signs---I can read those again too. Awesome! Hopefully it makes driving at night easier.
Hope everyone is having a good week! I'm looking forward to some spring skiing on Saturday with Joe, Jackie and Gil. It was 52 at Timberline today! And hopefully on Sunday Sophie will be accepting visitors, specifically Auntie Katie!

Have a good weekend!

This is what was waiting for me when I opened the garage today after work!! Joe met Nick at Cabela's on Saturday and apparently decided it would be really funny to buy this and play a joke on me. When I opened the garage I was so confused. I thought maybe I pulled into the wrong driveway---why would we have something like that?!?! Leave it to Joe! I walked in and he could hardly talk he was laughing so hard. This 8' monster was definitely worth the $15 for him....and I think it will be our newest gag gift!

We went skiing yesterday at Timberline. It was the nastiest ski trip I have ever been on! There was a light mist all day---the lift operator was squeegeeing everyones goggles before they got on the lift. It was fun, but next time we'll check the weather reports better before we leave! I'm still waiting to hear back from Dr. Nichols....he was going to check with Dr. Heydon at OHSU to see if it would be ok for me to ski this year. I've gone twice now and I'm still walking, so I think I'll continue! And hopefully not get lectured at my next appointment! :)

False alarm.....again....

Ok, so I just got an email from the producer and my story has been bumped. Again!

She said she thinks it will either be next weekend or after the inauguration...

Despite all of the bad reviews, I loved Bride Wars! I went last night with Jenny and a couple other girls. It was cute---I highly recommend it. Especially if you're getting married soon! Speaking of which, I feel like I'm slightly turning into a Bridezilla already. And we still have 8 months to go! We met with the wedding coordinator on Thursday and it's just overwhelming hearing everything we still have to get accomplished between now and then!

I got an email from Good Morning America and as of right now, the story is scheduled to air tomorrow morning. Set your TiVo's!
Hope everyone has a good weekend!

Staying high and dry...

The weather continues to be crazy here. Below are some pictures from our adventure a couple of hours ago. These are pics of the Coweeman River. My dad said water was up to the bridge when he left the lab so we had to go check it out. It's expected to crest at 4 am tomorrow. Scary!

I'm so thankful Joe and I are staying high and dry even though the neighborhood behind us is totally flooded. My mom heard all of the residents had to be evacuated by boat. It's bad. Thank goodness the developer of our neighborhood was smart and built us up higher!

The weather this winter has really screwed up lots of plans! I thought that would end with the snow yet it continues. We were going to go down to see my sister and Sophie today but my mom didn't want to be on the road. I was going to go myself but I don't trust myself driving when it's so nasty and dark out. Haha, do I sound like I'm 85 or what?! Hopefully that problem will be better next week....I went to the eye doctor yesterday and I get contacts next Thursday. I've never worn glasses (not consistently anyway) and I've never had contacts, so we'll see how it goes. I might be able to read signs now and drive at night. YAY! :) Tomorrow we're supposed to meet with the wedding coordinator but that will probably get cancelled too. :( Oh well, I guess that should be the least of my worries. I can't imagine having to evacuate our house or being outside sandbagging everything.

Hope everyone is staying dry!

Christmas #2

We had our belated Christmas on New Year's. It was great! It was actually really fun having it that day. My mom and dad did a great job of keeping it festive and it felt just like Christmas morning! The best part was having Sophie there. I can't even begin to describe how special she is and how much love I have for her! It's amazing. She's amazing! It's so fun to see my sister and George as parents. They are so good at it! Even when they're going on 4 hours of sleep! My sister is an amazing mom----I hope that I can be the same someday!

Joe is leaving tonight to go skiing at Crystal tomorrow. He's going with his cousin and a bunch of people that work at Pierce County. I've created a ski monster! He's obsessed! He's really disappointed I'm not going tomorrow. I feel bad but I just don't want to! I do have a legit excuse though. Somehow I jammed my toe and it's all bruised and I can hardly touch it. The thought of putting it in my ski boot does not sound like fun! I think it frustrates him that I don't obsess about going constantly like he does. I've gone once....and we'll be skiing at Bachelor at the end of the month....and if I can get a few more trips in after that, I'll consider that a good season. Unlike him, my goal isn't to ski every free day I have! He even goes up by himself if he has a day off during the week. No thanks! I guess I should be thankful that he's active and doesn't sit around all day. THAT would drive me crazy!

Anyway, here are a few of my new favorite pictures....
