Happy Birthday, Dad!

Yesterday was dad's birthday! Mom made dinner for the 6 of us, I made dad an apple pie and we all watched the Blazers lose together! Despite the loss, it was a great night.

The best $8.00 Cabella's purchase ever!

Joe and I snuck up while mom and dad were at breakfast and left the blow-up elk in their yard. We should have planned better and had him holding a "Happy Birthday, Dad" sign but we didn't put enough planning into it! I think he could a kick out of it--I know Joe and I did!
Hope everyone had a good weekend!

Oh Tonya...

Joe and I are watching KGW Live @ 7 and their question to viewers is "Why is Tonya Harding still such a draw?" That's a good question! I'm not sure, but I'm proud to say I had the honor of interviewing her in high school for the Monarch Weekly. It was on Christmas and she came to our house. And even better, I interviewed her after the attacks. I think it was before she threw the hubcap at her boyfriend though. KGW has asked a good question though, why is there still so much hype about her?!? I bet she loves it!

Sophie is 4 months today!! She getting cuter, bigger and smarter by the day.

Happy 4 months Sophie Marie. We love you more than you'll ever know!!

TGIF!!

I don't know if I've ever been so happy for Friday to be here! I know I've been working a lot, but I didn't realize until I got my paycheck that I worked 116 hours last pay period. That explains why I've been totally exhausted both emotionally and physically.

That said, I'm so excited for the weekend. And even more excited that the suns going to be making an appearance! I don't want to jinx it, but I even heard 76 on Sunday! I can't wait!

Joe's grandparents are coming down to Longview tomorrow. His grandma was a florist for years and years so she wants to do the flowers for our wedding. We're going to take her up to the golf course so she can see everything and where the reception will be held. It's hard to believe we'll be honeymooning 5 months from today! Speaking of which, we are still trying to figure out where to go. We were set on Maui at first but then we started thinking of other places, somewhere neither one of has ever been. We'd love to go Greece---on a cruise so we don't have the stress of the planning---just sit back and relax, but it takes so long to get there! I don't really want to spend that much time traveling. I'd love to hear from anyone who has been on a cruise. We're both indecisive about them. It sounds pretty fun until I start researching more and seeing more "candid" pictures from travelers. Maybe it's just the pictures I'm seeing, but all of the rooms on board look pretty ghetto and outdated. Is that how they are or am I just looking at old pictures? What if you don't want to go on an excursion? Would we have the option of just finding a beach and hanging out for the day? I have so many questions!

I decided to let people have the option of leaving comments on my blog again. When I first started I didn't want that option because I didn't want sympathy from anyone. Now that I'm through with all the cancer stuff, I decided I'd open it back up. So, if you've been on a cruise, I'd love to hear your about experience!

Hope everyone has a great weekend!
This is another great picture email from my dad. He sent it to my mom, sister and I. I think he's trying to torture us! :)

Hi,I just got to daytona. Here is the view from my room!
Love, me

Look closely and at the white sign----it says 'living for weekends and holidays." That's me right now. Hope everyone has a good day! Getting closer to the weekend!

Happy Easter!

The Easter bunny left eggs on our front porch! We didn't realize they were there until my parents showed up for brunch at around 11. They thought I had put them out there for decoration! Funny thing is, Joe and I had no idea they were there until we opened the door to let them in!

Someone in our neighborhood must have left them on our porch. What a cute idea! They were adorable!

We hosted Easter Brunch at our house and I'm proud to say it was a sucess! It was our first big family holiday hosting and everything turned out perfectly. I told everyone not to worry about bringing anything since they had didn't get back from AZ until late last night, so we did it all. And I loved every minute of it! I researched recipes all week and had so much fun planning everything. Joe was a huge help. Especially with all of the last minute stuff this morning! Subie even enjoyed the day. He doesn't know what to think of Sophie though. It's funny to watch him when she's here---he's so intrigued. Especially when she cries! We had brunch at 11 and then went to the Haglund's for their Annual Easter Egg Hunt at 1. That was a lot of fun too. So many little kids, all so excited to hunt for eggs. It's so much fun seeing the excitement in kids on holidays.

On the menu today was breakfast casserole, sticky buns, lots of fresh fruit and most importantly, sweets.

Hope everyone had as good of an Easter as we did!

Hahahaha, this picture of Sophie cracks me up! George emailed it to me today while I was at work. They (mom, dad, Kim, George and Sophie) are all in Arizona for the week. Sophie's first big trip! She did great on the plane---I was nervous for my sister. I can't imagine having a screaming baby and the seat belt sign turned on. People don't like crying babies much. Especially on airplanes!

Hope everyone is having a good week! I must admit it's torture being stuck in Longview knowing my family is on vacation in Arizona!

We had visitors galore yesterday! Joe's mom and dad came down for the day to hang out with us, then my mom showed up, then my grandma and Ed randomly stopped by (really random considering they haven't been out in about 2 years!!), then dad came down to hang out. The weather was GORGEOUS. In fact, I woke up this morning and realized I got a little burned. Not too happy about that. Don't want to get cancer. Again! I wear 30 on my face and neck everyday, but neglected to cover up my legs. Bummer.

Anyway, we were outside all day long. It made Joe and I realize we need to get more outdoor furniture. Joe and his dad had to make the bench above that grandma, Ed and his dad are sitting on. Of course Joe had a random board like that laying around in the garage! Good thing he did, it came in handy!

Soon after grandma and Ed left, we put the parents to work and worked out in the yard until about 6. It felt so good! Joe is determined to get our grass the greenest in the neighboorhood. Joe and his dad made a trip to Greg's Gardens and came back with bags and bags of stuff along with Greg's secrets, so maybe it'll happen. Wish us luck......we have the deadest looking grass as of yesterday! :)

It's supposed to be 77 today. Glorious! I love, love, love this weather. I have a feeling it's just a tease though!

Hope everyone has a good Monday. How can it possibly be Monday again? I felt like I was having a bad dream when I woke up and realized I had to get up this morning. :/
