We are going on vacation in February so of course I couldn't resist these board shorts, rash guard and hat at Gymboree. The outfit looks huge in this picture! Are we really going to have a little boy who can wear that in less than a year? I still don't think I've comprehended it! A swimsuit is a must though and this has SPF 50. He'll be 4 months in February so I'm sure daddy will be wanting to take him in the pool for his first swim. Ahh! Can October please hurry up and get here?! I'm usually not one to wish away summer---or time for that matter---but I can't wait until he's here! I'm having a bit of anxiety flying on a plane with a 4 month old but all of my friends that have done it and said it's easy. As did my sister. Hope that holds true for us!
In other huge news, Joe felt him for the first time on Friday! He's been really bummed he hasn't felt anything yet but it finally happened. The look on his face was priceless!
We love you, Baby S!

Case of the Mondays
Oh how I'm not ready for Monday! I took a PTO day on Friday so I had a nice, long weekend....making it even harder to go back. This time of year I always question why I didn't go to college to become a teacher. Having summers off would be so glorious! My days of working are quickly coming to an end though. On to the next adventure, mommyhood! I can't wait!
I took Friday off because we decided to participate in my neighborhood garage sale. None of us thought we had much sell but once it was all on the driveway, we had quite the set up. We were only going to do it Friday but I enjoyed it so much we hauled everything out again on Saturday. And Sunday! I love just sitting around, people watching and talking to some of the strange people that come by. My Aunt Susie gave me a bag of stuff to try to sell and one of the items was a t-shirt. I was embarrassed to even have it out because it said, "I'm shy but I have a big d$ck" but of course it sold. The guy spotted it and was SO excited about it! I wish I had more stuff to sell, I'd set up shop every weekend!

24 weeks
This is what happens when Joe works nights, I have to take a picture off the mirror! Notice the sun coming through the window (and Subie wondering what I'm doing)---loving this weather!
24 Weeks
Your baby's growing steadily, having gained about 4 ounces since last week. That puts him over a pound. Since he's almost a foot long, he cuts a pretty lean figure at this point, but his body is filling out proportionally and he'll soon start to plump up. His brain is also growing quickly now, and his taste buds are continuing to develop. His lungs are developing "branches" of the respiratory "tree" as well as cells that produce surfactant, a substance that will help his air sacs inflate once he hits the outside world.

Laundry fail
Dear Husband,
While you were at work last night, I was working hard at home. Moping, vacuuming and catching up on laundry that I didn't do over the weekend because we were gone. I know you appreciate everything I do so I hope you aren't too mad when I show you my laundry fail tonight when I get home from work.
I was doing a load of towels and just got done putting in the bleach. Prior to that I had done a load of darks and washed your mountain biking shorts. They were nicely folded on the dryer when my laundry fail happened. You know how I dropped a knife, a bowl and practically my entire dinner before you left for work? The same was the case with the bleach. On the shorts.

Please forgive me. They were old and ratty anyway. On the plus side, you get a new pair of mountain biking shorts!
With love,
Your wife who loves to use bleach

Last night Joe and I decided to go on a date to see Toy Story 3. It's not often that there's a movie that we both want to see! I guess that's a good thing though---$19 for both of us to get in! I guess I haven't been for awhile. That's so expensive!
I loved the first two Toy Story movies so I had high hopes for the third. It was good---and I cried. Big, huge tears streaming down my face and a lump so big in my throat it was painful. The big tears happened when Andy was all packed up and did a last check of his room with his mom. So sad! I don't want my little baby to ever grow up and leave me. Or his toys for that matter!

Fabulous weekend!
It was a super busy weekend and I loved every minute of it! Joe and I were both up at 6am on Saturday and hit the road by 7:30. We drove a 2009 Toyota Camry for my work and dropped it off at our Moses Lake store. Free gas, no miles on our cars.....perfect! They had a car that needed to come back from Moses so we picked it up and headed for the wedding. Our return car was much more us---a 2009 Subaru Impreza. I loved it and don't want to give it back today! It was so sunny and warm in Moses. It felt sooo good.
The wedding was great and we saw lots of WSU friends. Can't wait till the next wedding so we can do it again!
After the reception we continued our big circle around the state and stopped at the in-laws. It was good to see them and we were both ready for a rest after spending so much of our day in a car. We stayed the night and spent Sunday morning with Joe's dad for Father's Day. Had breakfast, listened to them talk cars...the usual. We even got to see g-ma and g-pa Sanderson!
As soon as we got home we took off for my Aunt Susie's house for a big party. Tons of people, lots of fresh halibut that they caught in Alaska....it was a great night. We ended up getting home around 9:30. That's really late for me, especially on a work night! Needless to say, I'm feeling pretty tired this morning. Helps to know I have Friday off though. YAY!

23 Weeks
I follow a blog called The Southern Belle Baby and for her weekly baby updates she did a short survey---I'm going to copy her and try it this week!
How far along? 23 weeks
Total weight gain/loss: Ha! Some people actually lose weight?! I guess I can thank the lack of morning sickness for that not happening. As far as how much I've gained? No clue. Seriously. And I like it that way!
Maternity clothes? Most of the time. I've been wearing pre-pregnancy pants but at my appointment yesterday doctor said to avoid them---don't want any unneeded pressure on baby. Hardest clothing dilemma thus far is finding something to wear to the wedding on Saturday. Thought one of my summer dresses would work but because of the bump it's shorter in the front. Not cute!
Sleep: Like a baby! I'm still comfortable on my stomach but I asked doctor if that was ok yesterday and like wearing pre-pregnancy pants, he doesn't recommend it. So sad! That's my favorite way to sleep. Although lately I always wake up on my side. Last night I used a pillow my sister gave me and it forced me to sleep on my side. Guess it'll be the newest guest in our bed for the next 4 months. It's like Joe but much softer. :)
Best moment this week: Appointment yesterday. Got to hear the heartbeat and have all of my questions answered---I love the check-ups! And since I called and they told me nothing too exciting would happen at the appointment, we decided Joe didn't need to take the time off of work so my mom and Sophie came with me. I think they both enjoyed hearing baby on the monitor!
Movement: Feeling him a lot lately! Can't wait till Joe can feel it---but doctor said it will be a few more weeks.
Food cravings: Watermelon (still), tomato soup
Gender: A sweet little baby boy.
Labor signs: No thank you!
Belly button in or out? Hasn't changed and I'm hoping it stays put!
Stretchmarks? None yet! Mom, sister and aunt didn't get any so I'm hoping I follow that trend!
What I'm looking forward to: Joe feeling movement for the first time
Weekly wisdom: Exercise! Read something yesterday that said moms who exercise regularly throughout pregnancy tend to have babies with higher IQs. So many benefits! And it keeps me happy too.
Milestones: Being more than halfway done and having only one minor symptom: heartburn the last few days. I've been so lucky!
I was reading my Baby Center update this morning and it says baby is more than 11 inches now! Starting to grow so fast!

Yummy cookies
Don't mind the not-so-appetizing picture and different shapes and sizes, these cookies are delicious! We didn't have any sweets in the house last night so I had to make some. Three cups of oatmeal make them somewhat healthy, right?! Best part is they were done and being enjoyed in 20 minutes, start to finish!
Here's the recipe I used....
No Bake Cookies
1 3/4 cups sugar
1/2 cup milk
1/2 cup butter
4 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
1/2 cup crunchy peanut butter
3 cups oatmeal
1 teaspoon vanilla
In a medium saucepan, combine sugar, milk, butter and cocoa. Bring to a boil and cook for 1 1/2 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in peanut butter, oats and vanilla. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto wax paper and let cool.

4 months from today...
Is our due date! So exciting! With almost every weekend being booked between now and September, I have a feeling time is going to go so fast. That's ok though---I can't wait until we're headed to the hospital and can meet our precious little boy!
Another great weekend! Walked the lake with Kim and Sophie yesterday. Kim brought a piece of bread to feed the ducks. We found some to feed and Kim gave a little piece to Sophie to throw and she started eating it. Kim told her it was for the ducks and she started crying. Hahaha, think she thought mommy was feeding all of her snacks to the ducks! I love her more and more everyday! Can't wait to see what she thinks of her little baby cousin.
Here's to hoping the work days go fast, evenings go slow and the weekend gets here fast!

22 Weeks!
That's right, 22 weeks! Getting bigger..........don't know how I could possibly get any bigger than I feel right now and it's only just beginning! Baby update says baby now has eyebrows, eyelashes and even a little hair on his head. He can now also hear my voice, heartbeat and the "whoosh-whoosh" of blood circulating through my body. And now that his brain and nerve endings are really developing, he may reach for his face (or whatever he can reach) just to experiment with his newfound sense of touch.
I'm still feeling great! My workouts are getting harder though----I find myself huffing and puffing a lot sooner than normal and I'm pretty pooped when my time is up. Somedays I can go all 50 minutes, other days I get tired after 35. Hopefully keeping up with the exercise will help to get all of the baby weight off after. I have no idea how much I've gained, I stopped weighing myself long ago and try to close my eyes when they weigh me at my appointments. I figure as long as the doctor isn't concerned I'm on the right track. I know I haven't been eating for two----although I can finish off a huge watermelon (by myself) in two days tops. That is truly my one craving, my mouth waters just thinking about it! So happy to be pregnant during the best time of the year for fruit!
Happy Thursday!

The BEST bread
If you haven't tried Dave's Killer Bread, you must! It's SO good! We've been addicted---just made grilled pepper jack cheese sandwiches with it for dinner. I was hesitant to buy it at Fred Meyer's being it was almost $5.00 a loaf but they sell it at WinCo for almost half price. The above picture is just one I found online---I'm not that obsessed with it. Yet.

The perfect weekend
I'm sad to see the weekend end, it was perfect and I had been looking forward to it for weeks! On Saturday we started off with brunch at Mother's Bistro in Portland. It was delicious as usual! After that we headed to Bridgeport Village and went to The Spa at Coldwater Creek. Two hours of pampering----it was amazing! After our treatments we shopped. Baby got some new clothes (it's so hard to resist) and finally decided on crib bedding. Joe and I really liked it when we were down last time and when I saw it again I knew it was the one. Now the search continues for a rocker, chandelier and wall art. I think that will be pretty easy now that we've decided on bedding though. So fun!
Yesterday was a lazy day, I even took a nap. That's not normal for me but it felt SO good!
Got dinner in the crock pot for tonight---pulled pork sandwiches. Can't wait! Hope everyone has a great week!

21 Weeks!
21 Weeks, Day 147
At about seven inches in length and almost 11 ounces in weight, your baby is about the size of a large banana.
Your baby swallows at least several ounces of amniotic fluid each day--not only for hydration and nutrition, but also to practice swallowing and digesting--skills your baby will need as soon as he arrives in your arms. The taste of the amniotic fluid differs from day to day depending on what you've eaten (spicy enchilada one day, sweet carrots another). That smorgasbord of tastes won't be lost on your baby. That's because your little one has very developed taste buds already. In fact, researchers have noted that babies who were exposed to certain tastes in utero via the amniotic fluid were more eager to eat foods with that same taste after birth.
Your developing baby still has a great deal of room in your womb--though like anyone who lives in one space for a long time, this tenant will soon begin to feel cramped. Until those uterine walls start closing in, however, there's plenty of space for twisting, turning and even an occasional somersault.
With all that belly dancing going on, it's hard to believe your baby gets any sleep at all. But believe it or not, your fetus sleeps as much as a newborn, perhaps 12 to 14 hours per day!
P.S. A big happy birthday to my wonderful mom! I love you!

Weekend Recap
It's over already? I think having three days off seemed to go faster than only having two off! The good thing about today is that it's Tuesday and not Monday. YAY! Can't WAIT for next weekend.....spa day!
Weekend highlights:
1. Papa Pete's on Friday----they have the best pizza, hands down! Sophie even loved it. She's pretty easy to please though! We chased it down with Dairy Queen. Mmmmm.
2. Saturday Joe and I had breakfast with mom and then took off for Portland. We went to Segal's, Washington Square and Bridgeport Village. We ordered our crib! We found it and fell in love with it at Good Night Room. Thanks to Grandma and Grandma Vincent! It's so well made and gorgeous---can't till we get the call saying they have it. Six to eight weeks! We also spent all of the gift card money we've been hanging on to at Macy's from our wedding and bought an awesome set of All-Clad pots and pans. Now we have everything we need....and they came with a lifetime warranty so I feel like it was more of an investment. Can't wait to start using them!
3. Sunday night was picking my dad up from the airport---he returned from Vietnam. So glad he's back! He had an amazing trip and has lots of pictures and stories to show for it.
4. Yesterday we took it easy then went to Kim's for jambalaya. Her in-laws are from Louisiana and made it for everyone. It was delicious! It's always a treat to have that!
That's about it. I feel like we got a lot accomplished, especially since we got the crib ordered. Now if we could only find bedding that we both love---I think that's going to be the hardest part. Too many options! And it has to be perfect for our little man! :)
